The new Annual Inspirations Idea Book and Catalog is here. Nearly 200 pages of awesome new papers, stamps and of course, wonderful artwork! You can look through the pages by visiting my website at LVarner.CTMH.com.
Here is a sample of the new Chalk It Up paper pack (page 27) and Have a Happy Day stamp set(page 118). I love this stamp set because it has so many unique images all in one set. There are flower, pennant, arrow images with 7 different word stamps. I stamped the flower in Sorbet ink on the white circle and paper pieced by stamping the flower in Lagoon ink on a separate piece of paper. I hope this inspires you to create something today.
Well, I signed up for everything CTMH offered at convention 2014. One of these was the Layout Contest. There were about 40 entries. Here is mine.
I love techniques! So, I used the Close to my Hearts Artbooking Cricut cartridge to create my own overlay out of titles welded together and used as a mask. Then I spritzed with diluted Black reinker. Once dry, spritzed water onto parts of the Skylark B&T paper and scrunched it. In some areas it tore but that's ok to me. In these areas, I backed with Ariana floral paper. The photos where scissor distressed and all edges were sponged with black ink. Even the stamped swirls were stamped once and restamped in second generation to create a messy look. Really fun. Here are a few close up pictures of the detail.
I covered the front and the back with paper, used my crop-a-dial to punch holes and added ribbon knotted in front. The flowers were cut using CTMH Ariana paper at 7", 5", and 3" spirals. Once cut, I spritzed with water and crumbled. I straightened them enough so that I could loosely roll them up. After the liquid glass held them in place, I used my palm to flatten the flower so that they didn't stick out so far. I used super strong magnets with Skylark Assortment flowers to add some fun.

I cut the flowers and vine from CTMH cardstock and stamped using tone on tone with background stamps. I sanded the cross piece of wood patterned paper so that my stamped saying would show up better. The card base is cut at 4"x8" and scored at 2" and 4". A separate card front that is 4"x4" is attached to the card front between the edge and first score line so that it can fold and be held open by catching on a layered sentiment inside. I used Skylark paper pack and Kraft card stock to create this wonderful Pop-Up card. I found the tutorial on Split Coast Stampers web site but needed to tweak the measurements a little. I used the stamp set from Ivy Lane WOTG Cardmaking Kit. When trying a new technique or paper fold, consider using cheap cardstock or even typing paper to practice. The inside piece of Skylark measures 4" x 12" scored at 5", 5 1/2", 6", 6 1/2", and 7" when accordion folded, create a trench for the acetate strips to be secured with Red Line tape. The acetate pieces where cut 1/2" x
4 1/2" and after the icons where attached using glue dots at different heights, the excess was trimmed off. The dragonfly, butterfly and flower icons where cut using Close to my Hearts' Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. Let me show you how---Laurie in Louisiana
What can you make with one of the open window cards that can be cut using Close to my Heart's Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge?
Here is a card I showed at Close to my Heart's Creative Showcase at convention this year 2014.
Again I used Skylark papers to stay uniform for a pretty display. The Bird and wing is also cut using Close to my Hearts' Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge but the branch and leaves where cut using Close to my Hearts' Artbooking Cricut cartridge. I added a piece of white card stock so that the card could stand up more easily.

I will be posting several blog entries of artwork I created for the 2014 Close to my Heart Convention. Here are pictures of the items I had at the Create Showcase Thursday evening..........
I love the Skylark paper pack. I had used Stella paper on this card before but remade it so that most of my projects were made with the same paper to give my table a cohesive and pleasing look. The stamp set is called A Tree. It is only $6.95. The Butterfly pop-up inside is cut from the Close to my Heart's Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge at 3 inches. I cut the white insert at 5 1/4 x 8 inches, fold in half at 4". I marked with a pencil 1" from the top of the fold and 1.5" along the top from the fold. I scored between these makes while the paper insert was folded. I then folded on the score mark so that it folded inward to create my pop-up. So much fun! and easy to create!
